The Complete Recovery Guide
Sleep, nutrition timing, and where BCAAs, glutamine and collagen actually fit in.
Sleep is the foundation
No recovery supplement compensates for consistently poor sleep -- it is when a large share of muscle repair and hormonal recovery happens. If recovery is the goal, sleep is the highest-leverage place to start.
Nutrition timing
Getting adequate protein and overall calories across the day matters more than a narrow "anabolic window" right after training -- the old idea of a 30-minute post-workout cutoff is generally considered an overstatement of a real but modest effect.
Where supplements fit
BCAAs can be useful if you train fasted or struggle to hit protein targets through food alone. Glutamine is popular for supporting gut and immune health during heavy training blocks. Collagen peptides are commonly used to support joint and connective tissue health, particularly in people doing high-impact or high-volume training.
Active recovery
Light movement (walking, easy cycling, mobility work) on rest days is generally considered more useful than complete inactivity for most people, though hard sessions still need genuine rest.
